About the creator

GAJATE is Roland Gajate's artist project and is the culmination of his unique musicality and expert drum and percussion abilities. Roland merges live instruments and triggered samples with a unique rhythmic instinct to create a one-of-a-kind soundscape and performance experience.

Roland performed as the lead percussionist for Kanye West’s groundbreaking Sunday Service performances and is credited for implementing percussion into the group. Roland performed for Super Bowl LIV halftime show in Miami with J Lo and Shakira. He has toured/performed worldwide with artists such as Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Bruno Mars, and Camila Cabello among others. Roland served as house band percussionist for shows such as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and The Emmy Awards band. Roland’s percussion arrangements can be heard on Camila Cabello’s “Havana (Live)” which was nominated for a Grammy in addition to performing on her opening number at The 61st Annual Grammy Awards. Roland's work can also be heard on John Legend’s Grammy-nominated ‘A Legendary Christmas’ produced by Raphael Saadiq.

As a writer and producer Roland brings his renowned experience as a percussionist into his production and writing style. Roland’s unique studio setup brings a live energy to the writing process that can be heard on the #1 US Dance Radio song “House Arrest” which Roland co-wrote and co-produced with close friends and collaborators Sofi Tukker.
