The record title Take Care is a reflection of the attention that went into Drake's sophomore release. Although his debut, Thank Me Later saw platinum success and was a Billboard No. 1 hit, he wasn't satisfied with its rushed nature. While most critics and fans alike come down hard on the second attempt for many heavy-hitters like Drake, he used the opportunity to hone in on his craft and make something brilliant. The result was not only another No. 1 hit, but it also won him his first Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2013 and has been certified six-times platinum.
Deviating from the multi-producer approach taken on Thank Me Later, for Take Care, he worked with long-time collaborator and close friend Noah “40” Shebib as the sole producer. The result was a cohesive sound. Though the album is bubbling with star guests like Rihanna, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and Nicki Minaj - to name just a few - it finds consistency in Drake's signature downtempo mix of R&B, hip-hop, electronica, and pop throughout.
