Iss814 shows us Afrobeats are made in Logic

Ismaila Talla (Iss 814) grew up in the suburbs of Dakar, in Baye Laye, Guediawaye. Music there, more specifically Mbalax, is omnipresent. In addition to the influence of Mbalax , the broad reach of the modern Nigerian Afrobeats scene has fused with Zouk, Kompa, Hip Hop, RnB and the local Sabar rhythms , resulting in a unique genre of afropop.

Since 2018 , Ismaila has produced 16 packs for Splice in a variety of African styles. Each of the packs he’s produced has widened his network of collaborators and brought him to different locations throughout the globe. He now regularly travels to Paris and plays stadiums in Senegal. His recent release “Diokh Ko Love” garnered 8.3 million streams in the first week, and other songs have performed similarly.

In this video, he talks about growing up in Guediawaye and how Splice influences his music production process. Afterwards, he treats us to a look inside his one of his productions in Logic.
