Dynasty invokes the greats with his performance for the Splice Originals Dusty Roots Reggaeton pack, drawing from the rich cultural patchwork of his upbringing. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Queens and Brooklyn by a records-obsessed Dominican father and a Polish mother, Dynasty ingested all kinds of Caribbean-influenced music. Now he weaves the genres and their particular patois into his vocal explorations, including calypso, dancehall, and reggaeton. His Brooklyn roots reach into the deep creative coffers of hip hop and trap, too, and he drops these references effortlessly and organically. We created the accompanying productions in this pack with the same legendary drum machines worked over by legendary roots producer Philip Smart, and Dynasty’s voice skates across them with abracadabra fluidity.
