Every single percussion instrument used to create this pack was meticulously crafted from the ground up. Each individual sound an instrument produced was captured simultaneously using an array of recording techniques including close, low, overhead, and room microphones. They were then intricately mapped as completely playable instruments in Propellerhead’s Reason software.
These digital versions of their acoustic counterparts were used to create original loops, fills, one-shots, and experimental grooves, all performed organically using MIDI controllers with some very musical editing. This extensive production process allowed for the rhythmic creativity and musical flexibility that was needed to give every groove its uniqueness.
The recording of all the individual samples was done in a single-day session at a now-defunct recording studio in Bogotá, Colombia. All the mapping, programming, editing, and mixing was done at Lux Music Design, Ernesto Santos’ personal production facility also located in Bogotá.
This pack was conceived with electronic, hip hop, rap, and trap music creators in mind whose productions can greatly benefit from the unique Colombian flavors all the grooves have to offer, particularly the percussion ensembles and the experimental loops.
