Pioneered by acts like Cocteau Twins, Spiritualized, and Ride in the 1980s and early ‘90s, dream pop as a genre is all about textures. Soundscapes were woven together with breathy vocals and processed echo-laden guitars, and synthesizers. Over the decades, dream pop evolved as it picked up influences from guitar rock, the shimmering sounds of shoegaze, and the upbeat hooks of its parent genre, pop.
Though dream pop has never been a genre with hard and fast rules, the 2010s brought acts like Glass Animals who paid no attention to what was expected. They blended several different styles and influences for genreless music that cultivates a dream-like state with a danceable tempo. Them, along with groups like Coast Modern and Leisure, incorporated elements of electro-pop, hip hop, indie rock, and psych-pop for a new generation of dream pop.
This pack is for evoking dreams and assisting slow transitions.
