We’re all fortunate that West African culture has long embraced the importance of preserving and passing down musical tradition. As a result, we get access to the most unique hand-built instruments and vocal stylings that are so beautiful, they feel otherworldly.
Tidiane Batjily got his start in the music industry in 1976. Early in his career, he played with the Gueustou Orchestra and Ramm Dann Orchestra. He also released an album with C’est l’Art music production house. After a long break, with the insistence and assistance of his friend, Malick Diouf, he returned to music singing on many rap albums. Marietou Kouyate is a griot actress and artist who performs Mandingue music.
