75% of all plastic ever produced—more than six billion tons—has already become waste in our natural environment, of which, we’ve only recycled 9% of this waste. At the present rate, by 2050, our oceans will have more plastic than fish.
The goal of MusicRecycle is to change perceptions and behaviors about recycling; to educate how individuals can make a difference with small changes in their daily lives. Using the power of music to inspire and empower, they’re working to share this message across the globe.
The concept of recycling exists in the very fabric of creating music; melodies and rhythms stand on the shoulders of what has come before. We hope this pack elevates the value of recycling and the objects that considered ‘waste’ by making music from them.
Dhruv Goel is a Los Angeles-based composer, music producer, and vocalist. Born in Lucknow, India, he grew up in New Delhi studying Indian classical music under Pandit Nirmalaya Dey. He then went on to study and graduate in Music Production (and Video Game Scoring) from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Goel has composed music for films such as Thank You, Come Again (dir. Nirav Bhakta), video games such as Folklore Hunter (developed by Liquid Donkey Games), and documentaries such as Into The Mountains of Light (dir. Heinrich Eugen). His music has also been featured on TV shows such as Haunted (Netflix), Little Women: Atlanta (Lifetime), and Guy’s Grocery Games (Food Network).
He has worked at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions as a vocalist and additional composer on movies such as Todo Mal (dir. Issa Lopez) and Sky Hunter (dir. Li Chen). He has also worked as a music copyist on movies such as X:Men Apocalypse (dir. Bryan Singer), La La Land (dir. Damien Chazelle) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi (dir. Rian Johnson).
Kaushlesh Purohit, also known as Garry, is an audio engineer from India. Growing up in Jodhpur, he was exposed to a wide variety of music ranging from Indian classical to modern-day jazz and hip hop. Purohit studied at Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Music Production and Engineering. He has shared the stage with award-winning artists such as A.R. Rahman, Shankar Mahadevan, Jacob Collier, and Bernard Purdy. He has become an in-demand recording engineer and performer; working with globally renowned artists from the U.S. and across the world.
Equipment used to record this pack includes a pair of Neumann 184s, a Zoom F8, and a Sennheiser MKH 416 shotgun mic.
